Our Story
At The Manor, our philosophy is simple: treat guests like our family, serve delicious food and always exceed your expectations.

Our management team is committed to honor the wonderful history of our 1890 estate by preserving the beauty of this grand old home on the lovely five acre wooded setting in the heart of Oakland for all to enjoy.

The Manor is a place to not only enjoy a spectacular meal but also catch up with old friends, meet new ones, host business lunches, hold professional events and celebrate your family milestones.  Fine dining is always available as well as our more casual Speak Easy dining, ideal for that intimate dining experience.  Private dining rooms are available for groups and event.  Historic Oakland is known for beautiful summer weather and The Manor is ready for you to enjoy its large verandah dining.

Our Team

Jacques Hourtal

This international chef graduated from the famed French cuisine school in Carcassonne.  After working in London and Geneva, Jacques joined the Swiss Corporation in 1975 and came to the United States.  He has worked as a chef at the esteemed Turtle Creek Restaurant in Dallas. He has opened and operated three restaurants in Atlanta including the well known Anis Bistro.  Jacques owned and operated the Cornish Manor 2004 through 2010.  Jacques will be training and supervising the kitchen staff at The Manor Steakhouse as well as making our guests feel welcome and at home.

Chef Jacques has never been more excited about the signature dishes that The Manor will be serving.  He will be working on a wide range of delectable dishes to stimulate your taste buds and ensure an outstanding dining experience.

Mark has worked in the restaurant industry for eight years.  Positions have ranged from server to general manager.  The types of restaurants have varied from medium to high volume locations with casual to upscale menus.  Frequenting trade shows enables him to stay knowledgeable of current trends, products and incentives available from vendors.

Mark will make sure that the Speak Easy at the Manor is the perfect spot for enjoying an expertly muddled cocktail, craft beer or fine wine after a day of enjoying all Garrett County has to offer.

Wayne Thomas

General Manager

Having worked in the restaurant industry for over 14 years, Wayne has become well versed in all areas of the restaurant business.  His experience has enabled him to learn the varied roles of dishwasher to server to manager.  His knowledge of the required restaurant software tools is an asset for management.

Over several years, Wayne has developed solid leadership skills in his capacity as manager and supervisor.  He possesses the experience necessary to run a successful business, having been mentored by his family and their family owned companies.  He also has a deep passion for providing legendary service to his patrons.

Wayne has now left his family’s business to begin a new journey at The Manor as General Manager.  He is looking forward to welcoming the community and visitors to this fine dining establishment.
